Sweet Lime (Mosambi / Sathukudi) Juice

Yello Bloggers & Blog-Readers!
I'm here with a short & sweet recipe (well, not exactly a recipe!).  I usually make it a point to cook 3-4 dishes during the weekend & then blog about it during the weekdays. That way, I'm secure knowing that I have a bank of recipes to post. But last week, I couldn't make anything at all. and the alarm bell in my head started ringing saying *your reserves are being depleted*. And hence, the juice is a product of such last-minute cooking (or.. should I say, squeezing? :-P)
I used a manual juice-squeezer for making this. You can use any electrical or manual squeezer or if you are strong enough, squeeze it out yourself

Ingredients ~ (makes 2 glasses)
Sweet Lime (Mosambi / Sathukudi) - 2
Lemon - 1
Powdered Sugar - 1 tablespoon (optional)
Chaat Powder - 1 teaspoon (optional)
Method -
1. Cut the Limes in half.
2. Keep one half on the manual juicer & keep twisting it until the entire pulp is squeezed out.
3. Transfer the squeezed juice & pulp to a bowl. Continue with other halves.
4. Take a sieve & pour the entire mix onto it. Using a spoon, keep rotating/pressing until all the juice flows out.
[P.S: Don't throw away the pulp. Apply it on your face for 10 minutes. Its good for the skin -Tip by Mom]
5. There, you have the juice. You can either drink it this way or proceed with further steps.
6. Squeeze a lemon if you like the sharp citrus-y flavors
7. Add sugar, chaat powder & mix well. (it is not necessary to add sugar as the Sweet lime is sweet enough. But my brother insisted.... :-/
8. Pour into a glass & enjoy!
This is an incredibly cooling drink perfect for a hot & sunny day! I just love the color! Try variations with other citrus fruits like Orange, Lemon etc.

My brother knows about the blog. And when he saw me clicking pics of this juice, he burst out laughing! He said "Koi bachcha bhi yeh banaa sakta hai" meaning - Any kid can make this juice, why are you putting it up on your blog! ;-D and he has a point! :-P But I just love the juice & I love the photo I clicked even more AND this is my blog.. so why NOT?! :-D

  2. Had a nice time reading this post and the juice does look tempting though I'm not a big fan of lemon or lime based drinks.

  6. Healthy juice Kavi. For the pulao, I don't put the weight valve. When the water starts boiling I simmer for 10 minutes. I do it this way for any cooking with basmati rice.
